Holy Hell It's Been A While .

Ok so basically i lost track of this completely and pretty much completely forgot i had this thing so if anyone's still about or reading this now then thank you and also a belated happy Christmas / New Year .

For todays post i figured i'd give you links for a new tutorial DVD that was released by Deron Miller of Foreign Objects / CKY / World Under Blood fame . Now i've always been a fan of him as a guitarist but anyone who's followed CKY for a while knows he's not always been the easiest person to get along with which culminated in him throwing a guitar at Jess during a Christmas With CKY gig a few years ago . Since then he's gone on to release some stuff with World Under Blood which he describes as "Melodic Death Metal" , can't say i'm the biggest fan of the band as a whole but the guitar is work is pretty damn good . Anyway Deron made and sold 60 of these "Tutoral / Tab" DVD's through ebay and as you would expect someone soon uploaded it for everyone else who didn't fancy the £40 price tag .

The DVD it's self runs for about 2 and a half hours and he covers songs from pretty much every project he's been involved in over the years , i'll be honest though at times it does seem like even he forgets the songs and it's like he's learning them from scratch with you . Also there is no conventional tabs in this video at all he just plays the parts to the songs kind of slow and you have to do a bit of working out on your own . But for anyone who's been a fan of him over the years it's really not a bad watch at all .

Part 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRXfhuU5EqM
Part 4 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk_bjEyA2YI

Hopefully someone out there can get some enjoyment out of this and possibly learn something new while they're at it  . Also again is you do see this post after all this time then thank you again for checking it out , i really do appreciate it .

Welcome To The Jungle ...I Wanna Watch You Bleed

Thats right it's Guns N Roses time , one of personal all time favourite bands . Theres no denying they've really made their mark on the music scene and left one hell of a lasting impression and even today 28 years after the original release their debut album Appetite For Destruction is still amazing as ever and still gets regular plays from me and at a best guess a hell of a lot more people , it really has stood the test of time . Through all the drink and the drugs they always managed to pull of one hell of a live performance as well ..if you've ever seen the Live In Tokyo DVD's you'll know what i mean . There's been some casualties along the way as well ..Steven Adler for example and while he might not be the most technical drummer ever there's no denying he left his mark and Appetite just wouldn't of sounded the same without him , while i'm really no big fan of the current incarnation of GnR in the slightest i still hold the orignal line up through the Use Your Illusion albums in very high reguard .

Original Guns N Roses Line Up To Appear At Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame

The original Guns N' Roses lineup will attend the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony after all - but will they perform?

"I know that all the original band is going to be there," said keyboardist Dizzy Reed in an interview with Billboard. "I don't know exactly what's going to go down. It's one of those things I'm sure will all come together and be really cool. I'm just going to go in with a good attitude and a clear head and a grateful heart."

While Dizzy can't promise a performance, his confirmation that they will attend is the strongest suggestion so far that they will perform after all.

GN'R were confirmed for their induction into the Hall of Fame last December, which bands are only eligible for 25 years after releasing their first record.

It left fans hungry for a reunion of their early lineup, but unresolved tension between members - particularly Axl Rose and Slash - meant a stage reunion was uncertain.

Dizzy Reed said the band are yet to discuss any potential performance, but only because it's a touchy topic to mention:

"I don't know when or why or how to bring it up. It's not an every day sort of thing. So we haven't really talked about it - but I'm sure we'll have to at some point."

Meanwhile, the modern GN'R lineup continues to prepare for a European tour of arenas and festivals from May - and they might even return to the studio to work on a follow-up to 2008's "Chinese Democracy".

"There are some clamoring and rumors that we might be getting some material together" Reed said. "There was so much material that didn't make it onto ['Chinese Democracy']. From what I remember there were a lot of really cool songs; I can only hope that some of that stuff does resurface and get worked out."

As a huge Guns N Roses fan (well the original line up , i figured this was worth sharing)

Don't Wanna Be An American Idiot ....Greenday Megapost Time

Formed in 1987 in Berkley California , Greenday are a standout in the mish mash of Punk Rock bands that have happened over the years mainly due to the fact that they've lasted so long and always been a mainstay in the genre . While i'm not a fan of the newer stuff which really moved away from the punk rock roots they were known for there are still a few good tracks on more recent albums but nothing that really compares or comes close to the early works such as Kerplunk , Dookie or even Warning .

Time For Some Guitar Education

On the basis that no matter how long you play or have played guitar for it's always been obvious to me that you can never learn enough , even small bits of information can work out being extremely helpful in the long run so before i do the Greenday mega post i thought i'd bring you 3 books that hopefully can help you gain a bit more knowledge about certain aspects of guitar playing . Even if you only take away one small bit of info that somehow only helps you out 10 years down the line then i figure it's worth it .

The Guitar Chord Encyclopedia

Pages - 269

Simply put ..the more chord you know the further you'll go , combine this with the 3rd book i'm putting up
and you'll be well on your way to hammering out simple songs in no time , even if it's something simple that only uses 3 chords you still made a song and it's a good basis to work up from .

The Principles Of Correct Practice For Guitar

Pages - 89

Practice makes perfect as they say and having a decent practice/warm up routine before you have a jam session or whatever else will help you out immensley , wether it's chords or scales or arpeggios you need to work on this book will help you get into the right sense of mind when wanting to practice properly.

Understanding Chord Progressions

Now this is where the magic somewhat happens , if you've got the chord progressions memorised then your going to know where to go next and where not to go and when having a jam session or writing a simple song knowing these things will save you a lot of time and make everything a lot smoother . A good example of a chord progessions knows as the Pop- Punk progression was done by an Australian improv act knows as the Axis Of Awesome and it's demonstrated perfectly how many songs have been made with just the same 4 chords , check out the video below to see what i mean .

Enjoy.

Quick Update

Fixed the links on the two missing books i couldn't get up yesterday thanks to mediafire messing about , so if you was after Coldplay or Disturbed the links are there and should be working fine now . Hopefully tomorrow i'll be able to get around to posting the Foo Fighters books , a Greenday megapost and to top it off some from one of my favourite bands ..well the original line-up anyway ..Guns N Roses  ...and now to blatantly steal an idea from Family Guy ...ladies and gentlemen ...here's Mr Conway Twitty .
